McCarthys Bar & Bistro Testimonials
Listed below are some testimonials that we have received at McCarthys and would like to share with you:
As you are aware, the winners of the most recent BNI Chapter game were the Irish Team
comprising of myself, Dominic, Vincent, Dolores and Richard Lynch.
Armed with the ?rst prize, a voucher to the value of €300, we and our respective partners
headed to McCarthy‘s Bar last Friday night.
On arriving we were, greeted by the Proprietor of McCarthy’s Bar & Restaurant Mr. Richard
O’Brien who joined us for a drink before showing us to our table. Richard then excused
himsef and we were handed over to the care of his very capable staff which included his
daughter Aisling.
For the next two hours we were wined and dined to our hearts content. There were plenty of
oohs and aahs as our starters, main courses and desserts were served (I had to cover
Dolores's eyes while I was passing around the dessert board). The food was delicious and the
empty plates that went back to the kitchen were ample testimonial of this.
The house wines which were provided by Curious Wines were extremely agreeable as we
worked our way through a number of bottles. During the meal the restaurant staff were both
helpful and polite and catered for all our needs.
Richard and his wife Trish also popped over to us to make sure that we were being well
looked after.
I would have no hesitation in recommending McCarthy’s Bar for any meals that you may be
planning with family, friends, acquaintances or business groups.
I wish the best to Richard & Trish in their new venue and are con?dent on the basis of what
we ate and drank last Friday night that the investment will turn out to be a roaring success.

l would like to acknowledge the lovely meal that we recently enjoyed at McCarthy's Bar &
Bistro. We were four in total as one of the group could not be persuaded to forego the
delights of the opening evening of College week. It was a Sunday evening and was the ?rst
Sunday in a long long time that we opted to eat out rather than have the usual roast at home.
There was a very varied menu with plenty of options to suit all tastes. We chose primarily
from the special menu priced at €l9.95 for three courses. This proved to be extremely good
value from the point of view of both quality and quantity. The option of choosing a glass of
wine or a pint of beer as an alternative third course instead of the dessert was a nice touch and
was gratefully availed of.
The verdict on the food was that it was — ‘massive’. This l understand is teen speak for great
although it could also have been its more traditional meaning in reference to portion sizes.
The immediate consumption of dessert was beyond the capabilities of the children but the
staff, who were at all times attentive, friendly and helpful had no difficulty in providing
'doggy bags' for later consumption.
The only hitch in the evening was the appearance of a team of footballers of my daughters
age who came for their post match buffet meal. She was afraid that that she would be
recognised and suffer that most awful of social deaths - being seen out with your parents.
Luckily, through a combination of her practically sliding under the table to avoid recognition
and the football team adopting a 'dine and dash' approach to their meal, disaster was averted
and we all went home with our stomachs full, the family food budget still intact and most
importantly, teenage social credibility preserved.
Thank you once again for a lovely evening and we will be back.
